Gift in the Box A Children's Day Special
The Gift in the Box is one of our very first initiatives to celebrate the joy of giving.Festivity and celebration is in the pulse of Indian society. A country in-spite its diverse cultures and traditions, know how to appreciate and celebrate different landmark festivals throughout the year in the spirit of brotherhood and unity. We encourage all the children we work with to experience, participate and share in this unifying tradition and care for one others. The overall message of this initiative is to celebrate life, boost self-esteem, create awareness and help people come together to share and see lives transform. Most children’s home and rehabilitation centers struggle in keeping up with a steady inventory supplies of some of the basic everyday essentials, due to lack of funds and human resource. Their challenge is to create a routine that is sustainable and practical to regulate such practices successfully. To address this need we created a community based involvement, where people are not just donating towards the initiative, but are also encouraged to participate in the process of making this one of the most hands on and an interactive event. Where they first handedly get to experience the impact that is created by their support and involvement. Along with goodie bags, the gift box is an assortment of some of the everyday essentials put together for daily use. These everyday products are periodically replenished to promote basic hygiene and grooming practices throughout the year. This is made possible through the generosity of committed individuals, willing to pledge their support throughout the year and a wide network of volunteer participation in making this initiative a celebratory and communal experience. They are also involved in decorating the venue with some of the popular children’s theme, assembling and wrapping the gift boxes and simply serving in every possible way to make it a remarkable experience for the children. The event is celebrated with children’s dance and small skit performance followed by the gift distribution and a big lunch.
